DOE-2
Building Energy Use and Cost Analysis Tool
The Industry Standard...
DOE-2 is a
widely used and accepted freeware
building energy analysis program that can predict the energy use and cost for
all types of buildings. DOE-2 uses a description of the building layout,
constructions, usage, conditioning systems (lighting, HVAC, etc.) and utility
rates provided by the user, along with weather data, to perform an hourly
simulation of the building and to estimate utility bills.
Proven Through Thirty Years of Development and Support…
For over two decades we have been developing and
supporting DOE-2; this has lead to a very capable and feature rich
product. Over its lifetime several
versions of DOE-2 have been developed and released to the public; we currently
offer you our “latest and greatest” version, DOE-2.2, as well as
continue to make available a “legacy” version, DOE-2.1E. We suggest you use either DOE-2.2 or, even
better, eQUEST which is our
flagship DOE-2.2 based interactive building energy use analysis product.
DOE-2.2 - The newest DOE-2 building energy simulation and cost
calculation engine is DOE-2.2. You can review an Overview of DOE-2.2
and learn about Converting
DOE-2.1E input files to DOE-2.2. You can download DOE-2.2 and its
complete documentation from the DOE-2.2
download area, but you must
complete a DOE-2.2
license agreement and scan/email, mail or fax it to us and we will then send you a password for the
program zip archive; email and US mail address and fax number are on license.
D2comply - The new DOE-2.2 based California Title
24 compliance engine. D2comply 3.6 was approved by the
California Energy Commission as a 2005 Title 24 non-Residential ACM in April 2007. This is the component used
by eQUEST version 3.6 to perform Title 24 compliance analysis; third party
developers can use this package to build additional certified tools. For full standard DOE-2.2 use you
should obtain a standard release version of DOE-2.2 as mentioned above.
DOE-2.1E - Versions of the older
DOE-2.1E and its complete documentation set can be downloaded from the DOE-2.1E download area, but you must complete a DOE-2.1E
license agreement and scan/email, mail or fax it to us, and we will then send you a
password for the program zip archive; email and US mail address and fax number
are on license.
DOE-2 on CD - To obtain a DOE-2 CD, with program versions, documentation
and weather data, mail the appropriate license(s) to us with a payment of $55US
(add $5US for Canada, $10US outside North America.) US
mail address to send your license(s) and payment is found on the DOE-2 license
agreement.
The latest
Breakthrough in DOE-2 Building Energy Use Modeling is here…
eQUEST = enhanced DOE-2.2 +
Wizards + Graphics
eQUEST is a sophisticated, yet easy to use, freeware building energy use
analysis tool which provides professional-level results with an affordable
level of effort. eQUEST was designed to allow you to perform detailed
comparative analysis of building designs and technologies by applying
sophisticated building energy use simulation techniques but without requiring
extensive experience in the "art" of building performance
modeling. This is accomplished by combining schematic and design
development building model creation wizards, an energy efficiency measure (EEM)
wizard and a graphical results display module with an enhanced DOE-2-derived
building energy use simulation program.
You can review the eQUEST
Overview to get a more complete summary of the features and capabilities of
this excellent program.
You can review more information about eQUEST
including download of program and documentation, or directly
download the eQUEST Tutorial. You can also view the eQUEST download area to
see recent versions of the program, documentation and updates. eQUEST 3.55 was approved by the California
Energy Commission as a 2001 Title 24 non-Residential ACM on 4/27/2005; an
eQUEST 2005 Title 24 non-Residential ACM is being prepared but is not yet
available.
Download a DOE-2.2 version 47d (new 6/15/2009) for Microsoft Windows (best with XP but works for 95/98/ME/NT/2000.) This archive contains the standard DOE-2.2 release only. Enhancements over previous versions are detailed in the matching DOE-2 Manuals volumes. Here are the installation and execution instructions. The matching DOE-2.2 Manuals to use this version are new also: Dictionary (volume 2), Libraries (volume 4) and New Features (volume 6) and here is the cummulative fixed bug list for version 47d (size: ~10.7 MB)
Download the DOE-2.2 refrigeration only version 50a for Window (best with XP but works for 95/98/ME/NT/2000.) This archive contains only the refrigeration DOE-2.2 release; this version is designed to model buildings using engineered refrigeration systems not conventional commercial building HVAC systems. This version is used to model Supermarkets, “big box” grocery stores, refrigerated warehouses, and industrial facilities with processing cooling equipment; most of the conventional HVAC systems found in the standard version of DOE-2.2 are not included in this version. This archive includes a simple Windows executable, winDOE2, to run DOE-2 in its DLL format (same DLL’s used by the eQUEST refrigeration version) as well as the “DOS box” (.exe) batch version. The archive also contains readable program source (for BDL, simulation components, as well as support programs and data bases) and developer’s libraries (allowing third party developers to incorporate DOE-2.2 into their applications.) You will also need the DOE-2.2 Manuals and especially the refrigeration addendum to Volume 2, to use this program effectively. (posting date: 7/22/2008, ~7.9 MB)
DOE-2.2 California 2005 Title 24 Building Energy Code Compliance Product (no interface – just DOE-2, 2005 Title 24): Download a complete D2comply 3.6 installation - The DOE-2.2 based California 2005 Title 24 “compliance only” engine. D2comply 3.6 IS approved by the California Energy Commission as a 2005 Title 24 non-Residential ACM; it was submitted in August 2006 to the CEC for certification and approved at the 11 April 2007 CEC business meeting. This is the DOE-2.2 component contained within eQUEST 3.6 to perform Title 24 compliance analysis; third party developers can use this package to build additional certified tools. Download D2comply for compliance only analysis; for full standard DOE-2.2 use you should obtain a standard release version of DOE-2.2 above NOT this version. D2comply accepts any valid DOE-2.2 BDL file that includes all required compliance information (see Volume 5: Compliance Analysis) and performs Title 24 compliance analysis. If you have eQUEST 3.6 you do not need D2comply. Check the CEC approved program list to see all approved software. (posting date: 3/9/2007, ~11 MB)
Download a DOE-2.2 version 46a (12/09/2008) or version 46 for Window (best with XP but works for 95/98/ME/NT/2000.) This archive contains the standard DOE-2.2 release only; includes all items as in the 44d3 release archive, just using the current 46 version which includes many enhancements detailed in the matching DOE-2 Manuals volumes. Here are the installation and execution instructions. The matching DOE-2.2 Manuals to use this version are new also: Dictionary (volume 2), Libraries (volume 4) and New Features (volume 6) and here is the cummulative fixed bug list for version 46 (Version DOE-2.2-46/46a posting date: 12/03-09/2008, ~10.7 MB)
DOE-2.2 California
2001 Title 24 Certified Building Energy Code Compliance Product (no interface
– just DOE-2, 2001 Title 24): D2comply 3.55 - The new DOE-2.2 based California Title 24
“compliance only”
engine. This is the DOE-2.2 component,
contained within eQUEST 3.55, to perform Title 24 compliance analysis; once
certified third party developers can use this package to build additional
certified tools. Download
D2comply 3.55 for compliance only
analysis; for full standard DOE-2.2 use you should obtain a standard release
version of DOE-2.2 as mentioned above. D2comply accepts any valid DOE-2.2 BDL
file that includes all required compliance information (see DOE-2.2 Manual
Volume 5) and performs Title 24 compliance analysis. If you have eQUEST 3.55
(or beyond) you do not need this program. (posting date: 4/20/2005, ~9.6 MB)
